90’s to Nerdy

My clothing and style have changed as I have gotten older. When I was younger, I liked my clothes real baggy and not to fit me the way it should, I also liked for my outfits to match on the dot nothing could be off. As I am becoming older, I can coin my style as Nerd fashion, I like everything to fit as it should my shirts to not be coming off my shoulders my pants to fit as they should not to tight but not baggy at all. I am very much into highwater and crop pants this is a complete 360 from my style as a young buck!

I would say that my laid-back Nerd style makes me feel my best me. It a testament to the person I am, I am a laid-back person but I like things to be in an order but not to much as though that I fit in the status quo, I like to be trendy while also expressing my unique style and flare. So I may want to show my ankle or my entire calf one day, I may want to have a bow tie and some fancy suspenders just all depends but you can ALWAYS count on me having an amazing pair of socks that showed how I was feeling or my mode for the day.

My clothing style has impacted me in many ways when I was younger I was judge before I even got to open my mouth, I was looked at as a bad person and no one wanted to give me the time of day. As I grew up and started to change my style up I was able to gain more respect and this is a sad case because at the end of the day I am the same person just choose to wear my clothes a bit different, but now that I look more like the average joe I can get more hellos in the store or asked if I need help while shopping.

I am a thankful person I was allowed to start picking out my own clothes at a young age my Mom had great fashion scene and would buy me some really dope clothes so I was not upset about her dressing me but when I was able to have free rain I was about 6-7 year old I was around in the 90s so baggy was the thing, I was happy to finally shop for the trendy items I wanted and I was not big on color my mom was so I had to tone it down once I was able to get my self dressed. I really felt free when able to do this as my style was unique yet it worked for the time and day so I was not bullied for it. I was a fly kid to say the least and a even flyer old head now !

The way my style is now is my true and antithetic self. I am a real life nerd I enjoy learning and growing and I can say I am a fan of the skinny and tight pants and jeans I like my clothes to fit like it was custom made for me. I enjoy the mystery of looking down to see what crazy socks are playing peek a boo with my pants I can truly say I have enjoyed my fashion journey but how I am now is my true self. Laid back Nerdy!

JTM- what an amazing feeling to feel free at 6-7 years old and how awesome of your mom to provide that sense of fashion autonomy!
