Barbie Girl in a Barbie World

As Yves Saint Laurent said, “Fashion fades but style is eternal. Trends can come and go, but your personal style is YOU. The beautiful thing about fashion is you can change your style at any time, and the room for creative expression is endless. Before the pandemic, I always dressed up, walked in heels, and wore black as much as possible. The time we spent inside forced me to get clothes that were more comfortable, and pivot my personal style. During that time, I reconnected with my fitness journey. I needed something to motivate me to go to work out. A femininity coach I follow on social media shared how important it is to be dressed cute when you work out because it helps with motivation. She also mentioned, most women wear colors to the gym like black, navy, grey, etc. The femininity coach encouraged her viewers to wear other colors to the gym to embrace their femininity. I started wearing only pink and berry tones to the gym. At the gym I felt like a Barbie and felt confident rolling up to the gym in my pink matching set. Then, I realized that wearing fun colors like pink made me feel so happy. I eventually started buying pink clothes, shoes, and other accessories. Every day I add some level or pink into my outfits. Some would say my style is Barbie Core, but I think I’m just fabulously me.

Catherine- I appreciated reading about your fashion experience. I was particularly interested in hearing about how your fashion style shifted during the Pandemic. The Pandemic instigated a lot of transitions within individuals, and fashion is a theme that I do not hear much about in regard to the Pandemic. It makes sense though and I would be curious to know how the Pandemic impacted other people's fashion too!
